Handmade Confirmation Card Using the Cricut Expression

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Today I want to share with you a Handmade Confirmation Card that I made for our Godson Tyler.

I wasn’t sure how to go about making this card since I really didn’t have any rubber stamps for Confirmation, but I wanted it to be simple yet perfect.  Looking around my “craft world” I saw some American Crafts bakers twine and of course my Cricut Expression machine.  I knew that there had to be an image of the Holy Spirit in one of my many Cricut Cartridges, and I found it.  Using the Life is a Beach Cricut Cartridge, and the images of seagulls would work great.

Cutting the image onto white cardstock using the Cricut Expression and then layered onto a strip of craft paper that I wrapped in the bakers twine.  I then computer generated the wording and printed on the same white cardstock that I used for the Holy Spirit (seagull).  One more layer of red cardstock and I think this card turned out just the way I expected.  The Cricut never lets me down, another great Cricut card idea!

For the inside I layered the same white on red with the computer generated message.  I forgot to take the picture before I wrote my personal message inside so that’s why the picture is cropped 🙂

Handmade Fabric Wreath to Celebrate July 4th

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Today I want to share with you a fun patriotic wreath that I made.  I found some cotton fabric in my craft room and there was a lot of cut pieces and you know me I saved them and I am so happy I did.

I cut the fabric into strips (most of them 1″ x 10″) and tied them around a wire wreath frame.  Ended up I ran out of fabric so I added a pair of flip flops 🙂

Patriotic Wreath

This was a fun project.  It did take a lot of time, but I did creatively use all the fabric scraps that I had stuffed in a drawer.  I have other colors too, so maybe you will see another wreath soon  but it will definitely be smaller so it will take less time.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of the Military Men and Women all around the globe who keep me and my family safe everyday.  I can’t thank you enough for all of your dedication and courage.  May God Bless each and every one of you.

Memories Will Last Forever Especially When They Are Handmade

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

I have had a tough few months.  In April my Mom passed away, then in May my Dad passed.  This has been really hard on me and my family but we have learned that my Mom and Dads lives were the perfect love story.  They were married for 62 years and they just could not be apart from each other.  My faith tells me that they both are in a much better place and I now have two angels watching over me.  I will have precious memories of them both in my heart forever.

When we were going through boxes of my parents belongings we really learned how very crafty they both were.

When my Dad was in the Navy in WWII he kept a journal and also had a scrapbook of all the places that he traveled being on a Navy ship for 4 years.  He also use to color black and white photos, maybe that’s why I like to take pictures and scrapbook 🙂

Then we found lots of fun crafts that my Mom made.  Christmas ornaments made with sequins and straight pins in a Styrofoam ball,  handmade and hand sewn decorative pillows made from sheer curtains and some ribbon, and the cutest thing were “nuts”  She made our family out of 5 different kind of nuts and glued googly eyes onto them.  This is just one of  the silly things my mom would do to make us laugh.  I hope it puts a smile on your face too!

we're nuts

I am going to start crafting again, I know that it is great therapy and my parents would want me to continue doing what I love.   I have a lot of  new handmade card ideas, crafting ideas and can’t forget Cricut ideas that I can’t wait to share with all of you.

Handstamped Sympathy Card

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Making a handmade card is not always fun, but it can still be beautiful.  Our family lost a beautiful women who always shared her love for life.

She taught me how to dance with our turkey on thanksgiving morning before cooking him,  have ice cream for dinner instead of waiting for dessert, and the list goes on.  Thanks Aunt Bubs for touching our lives and our hearts.  We will have these wonderful memories forever.

This card was made using a rubber stamp from Inkadinkado.  I stamped the image twice (since I wanted a layered card) with memento black ink on plain white cardstock.  Then colored the image with Copic sketch markers.  Then I stamped “With Sympathy” onto the top of the colored image using the same black ink, cut, then used some pop dots to make the flower stems have dimension.  Next, I wrapped some white ribbon around the layered piece and added a bow.  For the final touch I added some diamond Stickles to the flowers for a little shimmer.
