Handmade Card For A Book and Cat Lover

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

My Godson is having a birthday this week and he is such an awesome writer.  He has written such fantastic short stories and articles that his teachers want to have them published, that’s how good he is.  So when I thinking of what kind of handmade card I was going to make for him, this rubber stamp was the perfect choice.  I know when he gets older he will have some books published and this is what my bookcase would look like with our Norwegian Forrest Cat 🙂

This stamp is from Stamps Happen, Inc./artist Charles Wysocki.   I first stamped the image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I used white because I knew I was going to color every inch of this image using Copic markers.  Then for the layered look, attached the image to blue cardstock then to a white card base.  This card was really fun to color.  Get yourself a large detailed rubberstamp and you can have some fun coloring too!  If you don’t have Copic markers you can use water based markers, pencils or even crayons if you like.  Just be creative and enjoy 🙂

Handstamped Birthday Card for a Wonderful Sister

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Today I want to share with you a birthday card that I handmade for my wonderful sister.  I am so happy that I got to spend some time with her when I visited New Jersey last month.  Looking at this card I am laughing because when I was in New Jersey they had a snow storm and I was wishing that I was barefoot like this card shows 🙂

I wanted this card to be colorful and I thought of a stamp that I had from Suzy Toronto. This rubberstamp is named Friends and I don’t know about you, but my sister is my best friend.

I actually met Suzy years ago when I lived in New Mexico at a big arts & crafts fair during the yearly Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.  Suzy Toronto has a line of artwork called Wonderful Wacky Women that I fell in love with.

Anyway, I stamped the image with Memento Black Ink then colored with Copic sketch markers.  Cardstock is from Stampin’ Up and I think the name of the base color is Calypso Coral, the white panel is Whisper White.  The ribbon used is from Dashes, Dots & Checks.

For the inside of the card I reversed the ribbon so when the card is standing you would be able to see the ribbon.

Creating Our 2013 Handmade Christmas Card

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Today I want to share with you our 2013 Christmas Card.  I had so many ideas (does that surprise you – LOL) but I was really running out of time so I had to decide quick.

So with all of these supplies, I wanted a card that was not too complicated, but still looked good.  This year I think I have eaten more candy canes then ever before and not the peppermint ones either.  I bought raspberry ones that are yummy!  So it is appropriate that our card this year would be a candy cane.

I stamped the image with tuxedo black memento ink, and colored with Copic sketch markers and Prismacolor markers.  Then added some Stickles onto the bow for that extra “bling”.

This is what the card started to look like.  I found the story “Legend of the Candy Cane” online and printed it out on the same vanilla cardstock that I stamped the images on.  Then using red cardstock cut 3 panels and using the Martha Stewart border punch, I punched the top and bottom.

With each panel complete the final Christmas card looks pretty good.

Well now that I have them finally done, I need to get them out in the mail.  Thank goodness there are 12 days of Christmas 🙂
