Flower Patch Birthday Wishes

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  It has been Super Hot here in North Florida, and as much as I love the beach and pool, on days this hot and humid, crafting in air conditioning is so much more enjoyable 🙂

Since our move I am still re-arranging my “Craft World” and finding some really fun supplies that I haven’t used in awhile, along with some new items too.

So these cards have been made with fun color inks from different manufacturers.  The greens, bright blue and purple are Memento Dye inks, and the red, dark blue and yellows are from Stampin’ Up.

All the stamps used are from the new Stampin’ Up Flower Patch set that also has the matching thin dies that you can run through a Sizzix or a Cuttlebug machine.

The white cardstock is from Close To My Heart, that was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder from Anna Griffin.

The great thing about making cards like these is that you can use them for any occasion.  It’s just when you stamp your inside sentiment that you make it a certain kinda card such as birthday, anniversary, thinking of you…..  But these cards were made for Birthdays.

I think I need to keep staying cool in my “Craft World” ~  Come back for a visit to see what I create for my next card.

Sweet Sixteen Birthday Cricut Card Idea

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Today I want to share with you a birthday card that I made for our niece Riley.  When you live in Florida you get your drivers license when you are sixteen.  So I wanted to make a super cute card that had 16 candles plus some kind of car to celebrate this special birthday.

handmadecricutcardidea

I wasn’t sure on the color theme so decided to just make it really colorful since we are celebrating a sweet sixteen birthday 🙂

I used the Cricut Expression to cut the image of a zebra driving a car from the Paisley Cricut Cartridge. Then using the new Sizzix Big Shot Plus machine and a thin metal die of a candle,  I cut out 16 candles on white cardstock and then stamped the outline of the candle in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored each one with all different colors of Copic markers.  (the stamp set and metal dies are from The Stamps of Life)

Now for the fun part.  Putting all these pieces together using all different size pot dots to layer the candles and the car onto the base of the card for a really “pop off the card” look.  I think I accomplished what I wanted to do 🙂

~ Happy Birthday Riley ~

A Simple Birthday Card That Looks Great!

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

It has been a busy time in my craft room making all kinds of cards, but I love this kind of busy 🙂

Today I want to share with you a birthday card that I made for our nephew.  And to be honest I really want to make a simple card, but just because its simple doesn’t mean it will not look good.

ctmhstampofthe month

I used the April Stamp of the Month stamp set from Close to my Heart.  A really great thing that Close To My Heart does is every month they have a stamp special.  If you spend $50.00 you can purchase the stamp of the month for just $5.00, otherwise you can purchase it anytime for $17.95 USD.  I know that the catalog that I have ends this month, so not sure what’s in the new idea book.

This stamp set is called Typed Note #S1504  and it comes in a set of 19 stamps.  If you want to order this stamp set just click on the link and it will take you to my friend Kim’s Close To My Heart website 🙂

Ok back to the card.  I stamped the typewrite and the sentiment that goes inside the “paper” with the Close to my Heart Archival Black Exclusive Ink #44751 on white cardstock and then just layered that image on two layers of colored cardstock.  This was simple, but I think it turned out great.

It is Officially Summer and Time to Craft

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

Now that it is officially summer, and school is out, what kind of plans do you all have?  Hopefully crafting is on your list 🙂

I have been busy with lots of stuff lately, and I want to share with you some on my handmade greeting cards that I have been making.  This card I made for my mother-in-law for Mothers Day.

I think I told you already but just in case you missed it, My girlfriend Kim, is a Close To My Heart consultant and I ordered the Workshops On The Go, Blossom Cardmaking Kit.  I have always made cards from scratch, never from a kit, but let me tell you, this is AWESOME!

Everything that you need to make 15 cards is included.   Serious, all I needed was paper trimmer, stamp pad, acrylic block and adhesive.  And I have leftovers to make more 🙂

If you want to order this kit, please just click on this link and it will take you to Kim’s shopping page – Blosson Cardmaking Kit #G1095  Tell Kim I sent you 🙂

More Birthday Step-Up Card Ideas

Hello My Fellow Crafters,

I am having so much fun with this Sizzix  Basic Step-Ups framelits die.  And, I am so happy I need to make a birthday card for my sister-in-law.  She loves flowers and I was thinking what a colorful flower/garden shop card I could create.

So using the Sizzix framelits die, along with my Cuttlebug and a lot of different paper flower punches I went to work and this is the finished card.

Here is a close up of the flowers, it amazing how much fun you can have creating with craft supplies that are just hanging around in your craft space .  I used numerous flower paper punches, scrap pieces of cardstock, foam to shape the flower with a stylis tool and some glue 🙂

For the flower pots I used rubber stamps that I had from Stampin Up and just covered up the flower images with my handmade flowers.

~ Happy Birthday Fran ~
