Saying Happy Easter With A Handmade Greeting Card

This year I am making a simple Easter Card.  I will be using one stamp that is a oldie but goodie that I have had for awhile from a  now retired Stampin’ Up! set called Festive Four, along with some patterned paper, solid pink cardstock  and the finishing touches of ribbon and a bow.

I stamped the image with Rich Cocoa Memento dye ink, then colored with pastel colored  Tombow markers and what is so cute is that they this pack of markers is called jelly bean. Oh well I used it for Easter eggs instead 🙂  Using these bright colors makes these eggs just as fun to decorate as if you were coloring real eggs and without the mess that usually goes along with egg coloring.

I can’t wait for Easter this year.  I will be cooking for our family and I know it will be a day filled with lots of love & laughter.

Coloring Your Handstamped Greeting Card With A Blender Pen

Hello My Stamping Friends,

Using layers for a card is so easy but makes your card look so good.  With this type of layering you don’t even have to own a paper punch, just a pair of scissors and a steady hand (that’s when it’s good to have a paper punch 🙂  if you tend to not cut a straight line).

The bottom layer was cut using a paper with a pattern.  Then I added olive cardstock.  I didn’t want a uniform edge so I tore the edges and got the perfect edge that I was looking for.

Then on white cardstock I stamped the image using classic basic black ink.

Now for the fun part.  Using the Blender Pen, I colored my flowers,  just by brushing the tip of the pen into the ink pad just enough to get the ink onto the blender pen and then brush it onto the image you want to color.  This is such a fun way to color in an image.

To get the ink off of the blender pen all you need do is on a scrap piece of paper, brush the pen back and forth a few times till the color on your paper is clear.

I was just about to put the white cardstock onto the olive and thought it looks “boring” so I brushed the edges of the paper along the ink pad for just a hint of color.  I think it added the perfect colored edge, by bringing all the colors together.

Now I think it looks great.  I used pop dots on the back of the olive cardstock to give the layers a little boost.  Try out this technique and tell me what you think.  I think you’ll love it!

Making a Handstamped Thank You Card

Hello My Stamping Friends,

Today my goal was to make a thank you card using only 2 stamps.  One design stamp  and one sentiment stamp.  I am happy to tell you that I DID IT!

I stamped this Flower three times and each time used a different color ink.  Then, using paper punches and also scissors I cut each flower out and layered using dimensional (pop dots).  Cut a strip of the of the olive paper just wide enough to stamp the thank you on it and with my scissor made two snips so that it would look like a ribbon.  Then cut another strip just a little wider in the red cardstock.  Put it all together using adhesive.

Handmade Gumball Birthday Card using a Cricut Expression Machine

Today I will be making a very special birthday card for my Godson who is turning 13.  I Can’t believe he is going to be a teenager!  Time sure does go fast, I remember the day he was born… ok, I’m done reminiscing 🙂

Anyway, I wanted this card to be colorful and totally different from the cards that I have done in the past.  My Godson is a total “cookie monster” but I couldn’t really find any fun cookie theme, so I went with the next best thing, Gum, and a gumball machine.

Using my Cricut Expression machine and the Sweethearts Cricut cartridge, I cut out the gumball machine.  Since I wanted so many different color gum balls I decided to use a 1/2″ circle paper punch instead of the cricut cartridge, it was just faster and easier and I got to use scraps of cardstock that I had too.

I assembled the entire card using a Zig 2 Way Glue pen.  Oh before I forget, I also cut a clear piece of plastic to place over the top of the gumball machine so it really looked like the gumballs were in a glass bowl.

Sea Shells Make the Perfect Handmade Birthday Card

I am loving living at the beach and having so much fun collecting shells.  My sisters birthday is coming soon so I need to make her a handmade birthday card.  I don’t know what she would do if I bought her a card, but she NEVER has to worry about that since I love making cards.

I will be using a rubber stamp from Peddler’s Pack of a pair of flip flops (beach theme again LOL)  I stamped this image 2 times on plain white cardstock, because I wanted to add some dimension with layers.  The sentiment stamp Live, love, laugh and be happy… is from Stampabilities.

I used one image for the base and colored using Copic sketch markers.  Then with the other image I cut out the wave border and the flip flops.  I used small pop dots on those images so they really looked like they were popping off the card. (of course I took the photo straight on so you really can’t see the dimension, sorry)

But now comes the really fun part.  I glued tiny shells that I found at the beach onto the frame of the card, and since I raised that wave border the shells sit really nicely on the card.
